Legal Question in Business Law in Louisiana

I had an account at a tanning company for 6 mths, paid in full. That contract has long expired, they called a few times because my credit card had expired and they want to charge me for the past few months because I have not provided written documentation that I no longer want the 6mth contract, that expired, that I signed up for.

I informed them that I was not told by the sales person that I would have to sign a form to end the 6mth contract, after it ended.

Needless to say, they ray a charge of 250.00 dollars on my new credit card without my permission or of me giving them the new number to use.

"Are they in violation of any law?"

An attorney will say it depends on the terms of the written contract, if any. If the contract provides for automatic renewal, they are within their rights. Consult with an attorney in your area for specific advice.

I agree with Mr. Franchise. However, you have now told them you are not renewing and the law frowns on those auto-renew contracts, but that does not mean then are illegal. A lawyer is going to end up costing you more than $250 in the end, so think about that too.
