Used Boat Failed - Stop Payment on Check?
On Friday, after a trial-run with the owner, I purchased a used boat with an old motor. The owner told me that he had experienced no problems with the motor. I bought the boat. The next morning I launched the boat and within 5 minutes the motor failed completely. Can I legally stop payment on the check and give him the boat back?

No.....stopping payment is just like paying with a hot check.....your remedy is in civil court.
