Legal Question in Business Law in Louisiana
Last company I worked for is getting sued
The last company I worked for is getting sued. It was my father's company. I no longer work there. I am, however getting certified letters from the company doing the suing, addressed to me, but when I open it, the letter is written to my father. It seems they do not know his address and instead mail the lawsuit letter to me. This has happened twice. One letter written to him and one to another head of the company. Both were addressed to me and when I opened it, my name is not mentioned anywhere inside, just the company president and vice president. Can they do this? Can they keep sending me letters for other people. Does this make me required by law to try and find these people? What do I do? Can I make them stop sending me this?

Re: Last company I worked for is getting sued
You should have immediately contacted the sending party and told them you are not your father or the P or VP and that your address is neither the address of either person or the company. If a suit has been filed, they may try to take a default judgment against all parties by claiming you received notice on behalf of the company. Make sure you are not an officer or agent.
