employee rsponsibility for damages
while moving a wooden console to my truck the console fell off breaking a fellow employees turn signal cover [45.00] on his truck. the console was being delivered to a customer by me as a normarl part of my job. my boss says I should pay. I say no I was an on the job accident. Similar to a driver hitting a mail box which the co. paid for.

Sounds like you were within your normal job duties and your employer should be insured for this, but they probably don't want to file a claim for $45 and you might not want to get into a big issue with your boss, especially if your boss is saying he thinks you weren't being careful or is already not happy with you. Sometimes you are legally in the right but the issue isn't worth all the trouble. This isn't a fight I'd pick but you could consider small claims or talk to another attorney if your boss forces you to pay.
