Legal Question in Business Law in Louisiana
If my employer inclued on the memo line of my final paycheck "by cashing this check you accept this as full and final payment", but the amount is incorrect, can I cash the check and still get the rest of my money at a later date? I am still owed my commission check...

Your employer is require to pay any monies owed within three days of employment ending. You should send a letter to the employer, certified, stating that the final check you received is for base wages, you are still owed commission, and you are cashing the check only as settlement of wages owed and not commission. Place in the letter the amount you feel you are still owed for commission and when you expect that amount to be tendered. You may not want to cash the check, if it will not put you in a bind, until you receive the green card back showing that the letter was delivered or that delivery was attempted.
