Legal Question in Business Law in Louisiana
My employer had me sign a contract stating in the event that I no longer work for them that I would not be allowed to go to work for a competitor or start a competing business of my own. My question is there a way out of that agreement if I wanted to start my own business?

As a Franchise Attorney I can say the following. To be enforceable, any noncompete must be reasonable in (a) time and (b) geographic scope. Without knowing the contract details on (a) or (b), it's not possible to even begin to offer advice. Consult with a good business or franchise attorney in your area for specific advice.
