Legal Question in Business Law in Louisiana

Insurance photography

I am a retired Louisiana State Univ. photographer and I am thinking about starting a new business.

For a fee I would go to a clients home and photo document all of their belongings for their insurance records.

Should I be bonded?

Since I'll know what valuables they own, how can I assure my clients I will not share this information with anyone else.

Maybe a notarized statement stating this?

Any other advice would be appreciated

Thank you

Re: Insurance photography

You may not be able to convince anyone that you will not share the information. You know that after taking the pictures, if there is a burglary, you may be the first suspect. You may think about a one-stop service. That is, you take the pics, let the client view them and then give them those pics on the spot when they pay. That way you do not leave with any of their information except what is in your head. You should either be bonded or have insurance that would cover liability on your part. Maybe you should contact a photog who is in business and find out what they have done. It will be different, but you will get some idea of what is involved.
