Unless you have a subdivision covenant to the contrary, you are allowed to place yard signs in your yard. There are public safety rules relating to some placements, however. For instance, you cannot place the sign within a few feet (less than 10, but I am not sure) of a street corner--the reason being that to do so could create a road hazard to people looking for traffic.

Many subdivisions have their own rules about signs and they are legally binding on all homeowners. Check there first. If yours has a rule against them, follow their rules. If not, you can call the City or Parish government (department of safety and permits, I would think) and they will tell you if there are any other issues to be aware of.

I would have rejected this question, but since Mr. Lambert answered it, you must look at Federal, State, Parish, City, Village and then to any subdivision or zoning rules there are. Figure out how many possible authority agencies, boards or other democrat policy making entities there are that control the property you want to put the sign on, then you will know what you can do.
