Legal Question in Business Law in Louisiana

Non-payment of Commission

I received my hourly wages, but not my commission on sales because my boss said they didn't have enough money to pay me. After a week and a half of non-payment, I gave my notice that I wanted to quit, but that I would finish out the payperiod. My employer asked me to leave before my intended date, and made me wait 5 days until the regular payday to pay me my wages once again. Now they owe me two commission checks. I have made many verbal requests to management, and I am currently working on a certified letter requesting payment. Is there anything else I should do to help resolve this issue?

Re: Non-payment of Commission

You are doing what you need to do. Send the certified letter demanding your wages/commissions be paid immediately. After that, if they do not pay you then they begin incurring penalty wages up to 90 days wages. You will probably have to sue.
