Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Louisiana

My brother-in-law has died and had nothing my sister had power of attorney. The hospital will not release the paperwork so she can file the life insurance. He died in a NC hospital, but we live in La. They said they need a executors letter. My question is how so I get that without a lot of expense?

You have to open the succession. The power of attorney is cancelled by law at the moment of death.
