Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Louisiana
buying a house together unwed
I bought a house with someone whom I was not married to. We are now seperating. I have 88% interest in the home and he has 12% interest. What are the legal ramifications if I move out being the majority interest holder. This is in the state of Louisiana

Re: buying a house together unwed
There could be many, so get an attorney. First of all they could just stop paying the note, the taxes etc and the house be repossessed. They could trash the property and you would have to fix it and go after them for the cost of repairs. As 88% owner, and I assume it is set out in the paperwork in that manner, you should not abandon the house and put it up for sale and if the other 12% will not agree, then have the court order it sold. Again, seek legal advice before it costs you more in the end.
