What is the process for name changing for an adult.

I do not handle this type of law, but I will respond just to make sure someone does respond for you. What I do know of it is that it is basically a paper chase. Attorneys that handle this type of thing can do it fairly quickly (within a couple of months). As I understand it, the person applying for the name change must show that he or she is not a criminal and is not changing their name to avoid any criminal charges or history. Once the DA confirms that, the Judge will basically sign off on the pleadings without much fuss. Don't quote me on this, but I would think one of the fine attorneys on this website could handle the matter for a couple of grand or so.
