Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Louisiana
community property
My husband and I are currently going thru a divorce. The house is in this name, but was bought while we were married and he lives in it. We also bought land that is in both of our names. I want the land and have agreed to give him the house. I would like to put a trailer on the land and live there. If I do so will he be able to force me to move my house off the land even though he has the house?

Re: community property
To guard against problems your husband should sign a Quitclaim Deed to the land in your favor, and you should sign one for him for the house. You should also have a Martial Settlement Agreement which described who takes what.
