Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Louisiana
Demoted
Can I be demoted from a Lietutenant to a Sergeant, from one Sergeant's statement, against my statement on an incident at work? There were no other people in the office at the time the incident took place. The Sergeant stated that I told him to tear up a letter, which is being considered evidence. I was written up on destroying evidence, and I had never had the letter in my possession at anytime. The Sergeant is the one who tore the letter up, and I was charged with destroying evidence.

Re: Demoted
You may be covered by civil service rules or a similar plan which provides you the right of an evidentiary hearing before drastic personnel action is taken. Check with someone in administration and find out your rights
