Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Louisiana

serious medical needs

i was denied my hart medication and i have sleep apniea, a codition where you stop breathing. i use a special machine ( c-pap ) to keep my air way open. failure to use it could lead to death or stroke. i tried to explain this to the nurse, she wrote down, sleep problems. my hart felt as if it was beating out of my chest and my left arm was numb. i and other prisoner repeatedly ask for medical attention talking to the nurse twice and the guards multipal times. it never came and for sure i didn't go to sleep. can they legally do this? do i have a case?

Re: serious medical needs

Jailers are required to give you prescribed medicines that are medically necessary. I doubt they are required to supply you with your sleeping machine, though. Unless you suffered some serious ill effects from missing your medication, I doubt if you would have much in the way of damages to bring a case.
