missed a court date
if i was not aware of a court appearance, can the judge still make a final decision without me?

Yes, there is usually a warning read to the defendant at the end of every court appearance that the court may proceed in your absence. Call your attorney right away and see if he can get you back in front of the judge before a warrant for your arrest is executed.

Since you said final decision, I assume this is a civil matter. If the notice was sent to your house, or your attorney, then you have received "notice" of the court date. So, without any more information, I cannot say more.
