Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Louisiana
slander
The insurance agency that I worked for let me go after 1 month because they said that I could not learn their computer system fast enough. I am a licensed p & C producer. I was not given termination papers. They will not even give me my final paycheck. I called the police about this and they told the police officer that I had some checks that belonged to them. I have no idea what they are talking about. I know that it can be proven that I don't have this. I want to know an attorney that can help me in this area with my paycheck and the slander. I live in DeQuincy Louisiana about 30 miles from Lake Charles, LA. I have been mentally drained.

Re: slander
If your former employer owes you wages, then you should consider speaking to an attorney about filing suit under the Louisiana Wage payment statute, La. R.S. 23:631 et seq.
Re: slander
Any local attorney can help you, but for a fee and the fee may not be worth it. In California we have a State Department of Labor that makes administrative regulations regarding employment and enforces labor laws. I am sure that Louisiana has some state agency that does the same thing. Contact that State agency and make a formal written complaint.
