While the United States Supreme Court has clearly stated that, "Students do not leave their constitutional rights at the schoolhouse gates," the issue of whether uniforms are constitutional has been litigated and decided. It is permissible for a school to require students to wear a uniform. The state interest in making sure no outsiders come onto campus, keeping order, etc., outweighs the individuals' rights to express themselves in their attire.

You can petition the school board to change the policy, but litigation would not do much for you in this case. If you really want to get involved in students' rights, there are several organizations out there that you can partner with for positive change. Get involved and don't ever think you are powerless to make change just because of your age.
