Legal Question in Constitutional Law in Louisiana
residency of Louisiana
I. My boss has been here over one year and still keeps his Florida license.
When I moved to Georgia there was this 30 day law to change everything. What are the laws for Louisiana. Can I still keep my old car registered in Georgia since I have it paid for and get a Louisiana Drivers license for hardship or work purposes

Re: residency of Louisiana
If you are now living in Louisiana, you are required by law to get a Louisiana driver's license and to register your car in Louisiana. Technically, if your driver's license and registration have differernt addresses on them, you are subject to being given a ticket. It wouldn't exactly make you public enemy number 1, but it is something you should not wait too long to take care of.
Also, if you want to aviod standing in the line at the OMV, most auto title transfer companies will transfer your registration for you for a small fee.

Mr. Lambert is correct. Driving around, you can see that many people have not registered the cars they bought out of state after Katrina in Louisiana. Eventually the state will crack down on this.
