Dear LawGuru Friend,

Assuming you have not already hired him,

you should, (1) Check with the Better Business

Bureau and see just what you can learn about

the contractor, (2) Check with others in your

busienss who have hired him before and learn

as much as possible about him, and (3) Make sure

he carries worker's compensation insurance

on his employees, lest one of them get injured

and/or disabled on the job and seek to hold you

liable for medical bills and/or disability payments.

These are the beginning inquiries you should

make. Also, you should check with your own

liability insurance carrier and inquire what

protection your own policy may offer you in

the event you should be sued by an employee

or supplier of the contractor. Further, should

you desire to discuss this matter further with

me, then e-mail me your phone number and I

will call you. Although I am retired from the

practice of law, I am still devoted to the law and

to my lifetime calling of helping others. There is

no charge for my assistance and/or consultation.

Looking forward to your reply, I am

Sincerely,
