Legal Question in Construction Law in Louisiana
I paid a landscaping company 50% ($1700.00) to do work at my home, did not sign a contract, they have now not shown up two weeks in a row as agreed. I asked for my deposit back and they said it is their policy not to return deposits because they use it for supplies. I tried to call them yesterday and left a message because I wanted to know why they hadn't even showed up (again) and they were at my house last week and told me the job would be complete by yesterday. They still have not returned my phone call. BTW the way they told me about their no refund policy was in an email. Do they have any legal standing to continue to hold my deposit?

You can sue them for the return of monies paid unless the delay was beyond their control.
