Can a California collection agency rep call my job threatening me with a law suit for a credit card debt threatening to serve papers at my job?

Under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, it is illegal for a collector to call you at work once you have informed them that you are not allowed to receive calls at work. The Act calls for stiff penalties for collection agents that do not comply.
