Legal Question in Consumer Law in Louisiana

Forged Car Purchase Agreement

I purchased a new car from a dealership with my grandfather as the co-signer. I signed the contract but my grandfathers's signature was forged by the dealership. He never signed any contract. He now has an attorney representing him against the dealership and financial institution. I have been paying the notes on this vehicle for almost three years. What are my rights regarding this situation?

Re: Forged Car Purchase Agreement

YOU OWN THE VEHICLE AND YOU OWE THE NOTE. UNLESS YOU PARTICIPATED IN THE FRAUD PERPETRATED ON THE FINANCIAL INSTITUTION AND YOUR GRANDFATHER, YOU SHOULD BE ALL RIGHT. BUT BE AWARE THAT THE FINANCIAL INSTITUTION WOULD NOT HAVE LOANED THE MONEY TO YOU ALONE AND MAY BE ABLE TO RESCIND THE CONTRACT. IF YOU ARE INNOCENT IN THE TRANSACTION, YOU PROBABLY HAVE SOME RECOURSE AGAINST THE DEALERSHIP IF THE LOAN IS RESCINDED.
