Legal Question in Consumer Law in Louisiana

Forged Signature

I filled out a credit application as a co-signer, but after that application was rejected, another one was called in and I was accepted as the primary buyer. The old application was tossed and and I was never required to fill out another. The contract was made and I signed it, however I learned that the credit application has some false information about my income and my signature was forged. Do I still have to honor the contract I signed since I never filled out or verified the application that was turned into the credit company?

Re: Forged Signature

You wanted the loan and you got it. I do not understand the reason to now wish to nullify it. HOWEVER, forgery of a signature on something like a credit application IS A FELONY. So, if you want the loan to go away, you should approach the loan company with the facts and challenge them. I have had this experience with clients before and the lending company sometimes steps over the line. YOU MUST PAY BACK ANY MONEY YOU RECEIVED THOUGH, SINCE YOU CANNOT PROFIT FROM ANOTHER'S CRIME.
