Legal Question in Consumer Law in Louisiana
I gave a verbal commitment to purchase a product from a company, if they sent me a bill in the mail. Between the time of committment and receiving the bill my financial situation changed and I could no longer afford the product. I called the number on the bill to contact them and left a message. They continued to send bill after bill I assumed that if I didn't pay they would get the hint and that would be that. I came home one day and the product was sitting at my front door. I don't have the money to return it and tried contacting them time after time with no avail sometimes even waiting hours on hold to speak to a person and not a machine again. Now they have turned me over to collections what should I do?

You should respond in writing to collection agency that you did not pay for nor request the product. You also could have refused the package without any cost to yourself.
