Legal Question in Consumer Law in Louisiana
I hired a contractor to pour a concrete slab in the front of my house. He completed the work and I paid him for his services. A month later I get a letter from the concrete company he purchased the concrete mix from. They said the contractor did not pay them for the concrete mix and that I owed the bill. They said they could put a lien against my property to recover the money. The amount in question is about 700.00. Can they do this?

Possibly, but you certainly still have a cause of action against the contractor you paid for the amounts, plus damages for allowing a lien to be placed on your property for a bill you paid. You need to talk to the general contractor you hired and sue him if need be.
