Legal Question in Consumer Law in Louisiana

Payments of a past due bill

I moved in January and for some reason did not receive my gas bill in February. In March I received a Final Notice gas bill of 450.00 dated March 8 reminding me to pay as soon as possible to avoid going to collections. I paid 50.00 on March 18. Now I have received notice that it has gone to collections. I thought if someone was making payments it would not go to collections. There was also another bill from the gas company again telling me Final Bill telling me my account is past due and need to pay the amount immediatly. Which company do I pay, and is it true that if I am making payments that it should not go to collections?

You probably pay it to Entergy like I do. But look on the bill and it will tell you who your account is with. You also have to find out from them when they start collections. Because they have been allowed to use Katrina as an excuse to double everyone's previous rates, they have been claiming that they want to help people get back on their feet so talk to them.
