Legal Question in Consumer Law in Louisiana
I purchased a treadmill online, through QVC, to be paid in 5 installments, the first of which was charged to me just before I received the item. Received item 2/4/10. Found out I might lose my job, called to return it on 2/10/10. Company said no problem. They would have it picked up because you can return it for any reason within 30 days, but, they could not refund my first installment until the item was received back. Said it would be picked up with 7-10 business days. On 3/8/10, the item still had not been picked up and my debit card was charged for installment #2. On 3/9/10, I called and they refunded my money. Two days later, a rep called to ask if I needed a box for it. Told her no, it was still in original box.
Today, 3/29/10, the item is STILL at my home. Is there any law that says if it's not picked up in a certain amount of time that I can keep the item and not have to pay the remaining balance on it?

No. If they refunded your money, you need to return it to them. If you refuse to return it, they can and will charge you.
