Legal Question in Consumer Law in Louisiana

Purchasing a new vehicle

I applied for a car loan at a credit union I had joined. I applied for a Chrysler Sebring 2003-brand new. The loan officer told me that the car was only worth 16000. I didn't realize they used Nada value for a new car. I felt that she looked up the used car value to see what it would be worth if I lost the car. I felt bad because I was recommended by a friend and he was not treated this way. I have average credit and I certainly pay my car note on time. I felt that she was trying to give the run around, not giving me any specific information on what I needed to do in order for them to approve the loan. It was like she was saying that she know I will lose the car by telling the value it is worth once I drive off. I can't she why they want approve it because I'm the one paying for it even if it is only worth 16000 and I'm paying 25000 dollars. It they think I'm a risk, they should tell me I didn't get approve. Is there anything legally I can do. I feel humilated.

Re: Purchasing a new vehicle

You are owed a clear explanation of why you were turned down for the loan.
