Legal Question in Consumer Law in Louisiana

I signed a contract for t-mobile in Maine about May 2010, while on a job there. I told the salesman I was there only a short time and would return to Gibson, Louisiana my home. I returned to Louisiana in July I have had problems with the phones ever since. Half the time people cannot call as they are told the phone is out of service. The service on the phone is usable less then half the time as they say they are searching for a connection and/or for emergency calls only. I have complained starting in July about the service. I was sent new chips for the phones and am told since July they are checking the tower. I called today after trying to call my son to help bring his father to the hospital and was not able to because of no service on Sunday. I was told I could not cancel my contract even though my job depends on my phone contact. I have to wait for them to check the tower and it could take not a year for them to check it but close he could not tell me exactly how long and I still could not cancel it. My question is do I have a case against them to cancel my contract?

The terms of the contract apply to whatever disagreement there might be between the parties. You should contact T-Mobile customer representative and argue that they are not providing the service they promised and you are terminating the contract based on their failure to provide reliable service.
