Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Louisiana

Can someone call you on the phone an claim that you have NSF's checks with a third party telling you that they will either start garnishing your wages (i'm on Social Security Disability) or serve me with legal papers at my home. And at the end of the message say that I have been officially served! I called the number back that was left on my phone and they gave some kind of case number, it said to dial your parties extenstion or 0 for the operator. I dialed 0 with no answer. Is this a scam or is it for real, they did not say they would foward these so called checks to law enforcement in my area, which is usally what happens with NSF checks. Not serve you on your answering machine. Not even knowing if they have the right person. Because my voicemail dose not give my name. Please advise me how to handle this, i've tried calling the company back with no answer.

Thank You

It is a TOTAL SCAM!! You MUST BE SERVED BY A DEPUTY SHERIFF OR OTHER LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER with a lawsuit. There is no service by phone or answer machine. Just another way to get $50+ from scared people.
