Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Louisiana
collection agenices and attorneys
I have a credit card debt of under 1000.00. I haven't paid on this account in 3 years. It has been transfered several times to diffrent collection agencies. I own this account alone, I had it before I was married. I am now married. This particular collection agency/attorney called my son for information about me. I then returned the guy's call and he asked me to borrow the money from my son to pay this debt. I explained that my son didn't have the money to lend to me. He said : I know he does, I have seen, looked into his accounts, he has plenty money in his savings'' . I am planning to pay this debt, and I am willing to set up a payment plann with him, but he seems ''shady'' to me, he wants me to give him access to my checking account, so he can debit it for the amount. What really makes me nervous is that he is saying he can legally check out my son's accounts?? is that legal? My son is not or was ever on my account and really has nothing to do with this, but they are harrassing him. WHat can I do? He says he going to have me cited in the morning ? what is that? I am frrom Louisiana...

You should see a consumer lawyer as soon as possible. You may no longer owe this debt, depending on when you last charged the account or made a payment.
