Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Louisiana
Im trying to find out what can and cannot be done to enforce a judgment in the the state of Louisiana. I know Louisiana follows french law. I'm trying to find all the rules for collecting on judgments. I'm looking for as much information as possible. If someone could suggest a book this would be very helpful.

Louisiana does not follow french law. That said, you file a Judgment debtor rule and have the debtor appear in court with all of his financial information. You can then have him placed under oath and you can take him some place private and ask him questions about his finances and take a look as his documents. Or you can have him put on the witness stand (rarely done at the first JD rule) and ask him questions in the presence of the Judge. If you are not satisfied that he has brought all of his documents, or that he is telling all of the truth, you can ask the court to question him and even ask the court to find him in contempt of court. But if you are satisfied, then you can seize his property or garnish his wages according to what you find out. You really should hire an attorney.
