Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Louisiana

We found out that is a judgement against me for an old credit card, and we have a lien put on our land. We did not know about this judgement and have contacted the attorneys representing Midland Funding to get the original paperwork and to offer to settle if we actually owe this debt. However, they are not wanting to cooperate, they will not send us the paperwork and will not make the offer to Midland Funding what can we do?

You should be able to get the majority of information from the suit filed in the court clerks records. A judgment is good for 10 years before it must be renewed. Once you've verified the information in record you should be able to make settlement offer, it may be that midland funding has sold this debt. Because they have a lien they may hold out for full payment of the debt.
