Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Louisiana

Gambling debt

I am 75 with dementia(Parkinsons), I ran up a $2,000 gambling debt at a casino in La. without realizing it. My wife and I live on social security and do not have the $2,000 to pay this debt. Do I have any rights in requesting no payment or making a small payment monthly. what can the casino do to me if I can only pay a small monthly payment?

Re: Gambling debt

At worst they can only take a judgment against you and it sounds like you have no assets that they could seize unless you have something more than your homestead (which is exempt) and your car(s).
