Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Louisiana

My husband and his ex have been divorced about 3 years now. She filed Chapter 13 about a year ago. We are wondering what is his obligation to the creditors. Since it was joint debt in the filing. We all reside in Louisiana. We are trying to clean up his credit score and buy a home. Please help. Thanks

Assuming the debt was made joint because it was a community debt, then as to the debtors, each party owes the whole thing and they can go after either party for the whole debt. It seems she is trying to pay off at least a part of the debt by filing the 13. I do not know how he can clean up his credit since as long as his debt is outstanding, it will show as such. It matters not that there was a community property agreement, since the creditors did not agree to it. It will show on his credit until satisfied.
