Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Louisiana

I had a judgement placed against me for 5,000 dollars, for a car that i stopped making payments on in 2009. i received the paper work stating the amount I have to pay back, however i dont know how long i have to repay and who i make the payments to. My question is this just a debt that remains with me indefintely until i decide to pay?

Judgments are good for 10 years and then must be renewed. Interest accrues so the longer it is owed, the more money is owed. A judgment can be used against any assets not protected against seizure.
