Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Louisiana

I had judgment for a past debt of my spouse. I did not pay it. He refused to pay and now they are garnishing my check every pay period. How can this be stopped? The attorney I spoke with said it was too late to do anything and I got bad advice from another attorney who told me don't go to the judgement, they will win anyway. So I just did nothing? Now I am stuck with a garnishment, which I heard affects your credit for 7-10 years. The loan was transferred at least twice since it began in 2004. There was a contract that I signed for work on his truck. Everyone tells me their is no solution. My attorney said they are also investigating my property, which I alone own, because that will be another area they will go after. My husband and I are not together and the company claims they can't find him. I feel there is no justice! Is there any way out?

The way you write you are still married to him. Is that correct? I do not understand what you wrote because you make it sound like there was a judgment in existence when you married him. I would need to see the paperwork, but if everyone tells you there is nothing you can do, I doubt if we on this free site can help you. However, email a copy of the papers you are talking about and I will be happy to try to figure out the situation.
