Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Louisiana

I live in Louisiana and am behind on my travel trailer payments. It was financed in Texas through GE money bank and I think it has now been turned over to a company called The Eaton Group ATTY, in Baton Rouge LA. I was told by someone at GE Money bank that because of the way the laws read for Louisiana that GE will not be able to pursue repossession. Is this true? can you direct me on where to find the actual law in writing. I have tried contacting The Eaton Group, but have not gotten a response. Thank you and information you can provide would be helpful.

It sounds as if you have already been sued. If so, you only have 10-15 days from the date you were served to file an answer or other responsive pleadings, depending on which court they sued you in. I don't know what you heard about GE not being able to pursue repossession in Louisiana, but GE and other lenders repossess things all the time in Louisiana. You need to focus on responding to that lawsuit with an answer. If you fail to answer, they will default you and then any defense you may have had will have been waived forever. You need an attorney and you need one fast.

If the response date is coming up tomorrow, or before you can get to an attorney, I would advise that you file a motion for extension of time with the clerk immediately. That will get you some time to hire an attorney.
