Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Louisiana
My mom somehow has three personal loans totaling about $300 a month. She lives on a fixed income (SSI 670/mth). I wanted to know is their anyway to get her out of them? She can't keep up with the payments. One of the companies, Security Finance, has threatened to take her to court because she is currently behind.

I don't have sufficient information to advise her properly but depending on the total circumstances, she could file Chapter 7 bankruptcy. If her only income is social security or disability and if she owns a home worth less than 15,000.00, then she may have nothing they could seize even if they obtain a judgment against her. The first question needs to be what did she put up as collateral-it may or may not be seizable.
