Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Louisiana
I purchased a car with my wife while I was on active duty in 2006. We divorced soon after and she kep the car with the loan still in my name. I seperated from the navy in january 2008 and joined the louisiana army national guard in february 2008. At some point in 2009 she stopped paying for the car and soon after I was activated for deployment the car was repossesed and i found out about it when i recieved an alert from my credit monitering. I called to see if i could do anyting to stop it and hey said no and i paid the remaining balance after they sold the car at auction. It has come to my attention that they can not repossess a car from an activated reservist. Is this true?what are my options? I'm out thousands of dollars and more imporantly my credit took a major hit as a result.

There are obstacles to proceeding with a lawsuit against persons in the military. You should bring all your documents to an attorney who handles this type of practice.
