Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Louisiana
I received a CITATION today which says I have 10 days to either pay the sum it states in full or file an answer. If neither is done a judgemeny may be entered against me without further notice. Does this mean on my name at the court house where if I sell anything they will take their money first or does this mean my pay can be garnished?

It means you have been sued and if you don't file an answer (or ask for an extension of time) within those ten days, the plaintiff can get a default judgment against you. Once you have been defaulted, you won't be able to fight the claim ever again and the judgment will be final. The plaintiff can then garnish your wages, seize your house and car, take your bank accounts and tax returns, and essentially seize whatever they can to get the judgment paid. You need to hire an attorney immediately. Don't let that ten day period lapse!
