Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Louisiana

I just received papers from a lawyer on behalf a hospital attempting to sue me for a past bill. what can I do? I'm not financially able to survive a garnishment.

Not much if you owe it. Make a deal. Go bankrupt.
