Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Louisiana

Transaction over internet. Clients credit card declined. Owes $130.00 but refuses to pay. We live in different states. I am housebound and cannot get out. In which small claims court can I sue?

If you sue, you will have to go to their home state to do it. Buying something over the Internet is not enough to give Louisiana personal jurisdiction over someone in another state.

You should contact the credit card company. If the person still has an account, but it was just declined for over the limit, they may have some sort of arbitration program you can take advantage of.

Failing that, you are probably out of luck. If you make transactions over the Internet, you should use some third party escrow service, like PayPal.
