Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Louisiana
Unpaid Debt
In February 2005 I co-signed for a loan so that my partner, at the time, could purchase a vehicle. Last March a judgement was rendered against me. I recently received a summons to appear in court again so that the plaintiff can examine my financial status. I have been unemployed since 2006, and not sure when I will be able to go back to work. Will I get jail time for this???

Re: Unpaid Debt
You cannot be jailed for not paying the debt.
You CAN be arrested and placed in jail if you do not show up in court for the hearing.
Show up at the hearing and explain your financial status. Based on what you are telling us, you are probably judgment proof.
