my brother in law is on trial for 2nd degree murder but all of the witnesses stated that he did not pull the trigger until the deceased plunged at him with a large knife should he take the plea bargain of man slaughter or fight it out in court?

The decision whether to accept a guilty plea or to go to trial is so powerful and so personal that only the accused ultimately can make it. I would suggest that, with the advice of his counsel, only your brother can make this decision.
