Legal Question in Criminal Law in Louisiana

Hello, I need some advice. I live in Rapides Parish in louisiana. My husband is a 23 year old veteran and he has PTSD and traumatic brain injury. A few days ago he lashed out at me in an argument, he threatened me with a knife, a couple of days later we got into an argument and he hit me in the chest with his fist and I called the police. I didnt press charges but he was arrested. My husband is not a bad man, he just needs to take his medicine. I love him and would very much like to get counseling. What are the odds that my husband will get probation, this is his first charge, he has a clean record. What are the odds that he will get charged with a felony? (hopefully slim.) He can't afford to go to jail, he just started college and our life was looking up. We have a beautiful daughter together (who wasnt present for the incident.)

You should make an appointment and talk to the prosecutor. There are a number of available options that will protect you and give your husband the counselling needed. You are in a parish with resources.
