Legal Question in Criminal Law in Louisiana
I was arrested last night while leaving a bar. Police were already outside while I was leaving. We were leaving but slowly as usual. This is typical at a bar. They began demanding that we leave. We told them no were waiting on someone to pick us up. Police would not accept this and continued to tell us to leave. We went back and forth and i ended up being pushed into the patrol car cuffed then thrown to the ground, and then thrown into the backseat of the car. I have scrapes and nicks. I hit my head and my shoulder is hurt. I think i may need to go to the doctor. I thought it was just bruised but seems like it may be something more serious. I had to repeatedly ask the officer if i was under and arrest and what for? He would answer me so i told him i wanted to go. He then comes up with me being arrested for trespassing. I was also charged for resisting arrest. I feel i was treated very unfairly. I was not trespassing. They were not called because I was trespassing. They sit outside of the bar on busy nights. There were others leaving the bar at the same time and no one else was charged. We were waiting for a ride because we had been drinking. What should I do? I probably did resist because I knew I had done nothing to be arrested for and was not being treated like a person should be.

Make an appointment with the prosecutor and ask if there is something you can do to make this go away.....an apology or some such thing.....explain that you were stupid that night. OR, get a very good defense attorney and fight the criminal charge, and get a very good plaintiff attorney and sue the heck out of them.......
