If someone is assaulted at a party, and no one takes responsibility as to who the assailant is would the person who lives at that residence legitimately expect to be held accountable in court?

Re: assault
Assault means someone tried to commit a battery. If no one knows who "tried" to commit a battery, how would anyone know an assault took place? If a battery happened, that is someone "touched", hit or struck someone else, if no one knows who committed the battery, then how does one prove a battery took place? My answer is no, the resident would not be accountable in court for an assault or battery.
