Legal Question in Criminal Law in Louisiana
Boss accusing me of stealing check
My most recent employer and I departed on very bad terms. He tried to withhold my last check, then when i finally got it from him he told me he was going to call and stop payment on it to spite me. Luckily, I found a bank and cashed it before he could cancel it. Now he's told me he contacted the police and told them I stole one of his checks and forged his signature. What should I/Can I do to protect myself? Also, if I can prove this didn't happen can I sue him for something?

Re: Boss accusing me of stealing check
First, if he files a false police report against you, that is a crime.
Second, if he files a false police report, you could file suit for defamation (and very possibly win).
